This article discusses the struggles women face to conform to the expectations of our over-sexualised society. It talks about the way women feel pressured to conform to these stereotypes in the way they dress/look etc.

Maryam is a school teacher, she goes on to explain how a student once stopped her and expressed that she wanted to end her life, 'everyone hates me and makes fun of me because i am ugly and i am not feminine enough'.



This article is about where the idea of women having to be 'beautiful' and 'perfect' has come from.

'We see it on television, in the movies, in magazines and in the actresses we idolize'

Society plays a major part in how women feel about themselves and how they think they should be/look. It goes on to talk about Barbie, as a little girl she is one of the first women you idolize, yet she has 'the perfect figure, perfect hair and long slim legs. she also never ages and looks good no matter what'



This article discusses the way in which women adapt themselves to abide by the rules of looking 'perfect'. Women spend a huge amount of money every month on their hair, make up, nails etc.

There are several factors which determine how a woman presents herself, her job, her age, where she lives.


There are not only pressure on women to look right in society there are also other pressures. for example to have a baby, get married and have a good career. These are also displayed in the media and society which force women to feel under pressure to conform.
